What is cross filtering?

CW’s Portal The application dashboard offers another level of cross filtering beyond what is available in the Global/Dashboard Page filters and the Widget Level Filters. When on a dashboard, the user now has the ability to - filter from:

  • Highchart widgets to any other widget

  • Map widgets to any other widget

  • Table widgets to any other widget

at the click of a mouse. This will give the user access to certain data at a moments notice that previously would take a long time to sort through Global/Dashboard Page or Widget level filters or was even impossible given the filter structure.

Each cross filtering scenario offers very similar functionality such as the behavior when selecting and the updating of the dashboard, but there are unique cases that will be covered in the following sections.

...

  1. To cross filter the dashboard from a highchart, first find a widget and a data point you want to click on. In this example we will be using the “Equipment Count by Class” Widget.
