Switching "Chart Type" in a Widget
On any of the dashboards with widgets, a user can switch the “Chart Type” of widgets with other types of visual displays including:
Bar Charts
Polygon
column
column pyramid
cylinder
and many others!
To switch chart type, click on the graph icon in the desired widget that you would like to change the visual on. All widgets have the ability to have the graph visual to be changed as long as there is an applicable/compatible chart type for the data being displayed. In this example we will be using the “Diagnostic Avoidable Cost by Organization” widget in the middle of your screen.
Currently, the chart is a bar chart, but upon switching to Column Pyramid the user will now see:
Some charts do not have compatible chart types and will display the following:
5. After a chart type selection has been made, it is not yet saved to the dashboard. If you were to navigate away to another page, you will see:
6. To save a custom chart type selection on a widget, select the “Save Dashboard” icon in the upper right next to the “dashboard settings” gear icon.
7. Disconnecting from a dashboard: After a user has clicked the “save” icon, the following message will appear: “Saving changes to the dashboard will disconnect the dashboard from the template. Continue?”
What does this mean?
Impact Summary is a “Global Dashboard”. For more information on Types of Dashboards, see: https://kgsbuildings.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ClockworksAnalyticsUM/pages/1817083920
Since the dashboard is “linked” to a dashboard template, it is “version controlled”. This means any changes made by your organizations admin or a “Super Admin” will affect all dashboards.
What are my options?
When you select “Yes”, the dashboard now disconnects from the “version controlled dashboard template” and now becomes a “User Dashboard”. This means that a user can now proceed to make any changes to their dashboard without affecting the main template since they are now “disconnected”.
When you select “No”, the dashboard remains connected to the dashboard template and your custom chart type selection is not saved. However, your selection is still displayed on the dashboard, but when you log out or navigate away, the widget chart type will reset back to the default chart type.
